see one dark eye is the second tape offering of ester kärkkäinen whose creative side uses the alias himukalt. it follows her debut tape conditions of acrimony on helen scarsdale (february 2016). see one dark eye is a dadaistic deconstruction of sounds –an industrial-hybrid collage of noise patches, power electronics, and voice. like the images that she posts on her tumblr blog, it’s carnal, suggestive, intimate, and disturbing. infused with emotions, himukalt’s radical juxtaposition of industrial and electronic noise blended with indeterminate voice samples conveys anger, confusion, distress, and pain. the tracks on see one dark eye are not your typical, in-your-face, repetitive blast of harsh noise with the associated violent images. for instance, on weight and repairing her own space caustic electronics and pounding industrial noise is tempered with punctuated lulls of relative calm, while the brooding trollop combines some aggressive electronic noise and industrial hiss with lots of women’s voice samples. the initially subdued sounds of phantom and never any sleep quickly evolve into chaotic collage of vicious electronic noise and extreme rolling industrial mayhem. i’ll tag the slow-moving yes.no.good. as my favorite track as deep, eerie tones and electronic noise hover in the background while the processed voice repeats the track title over and over and over… - bitter noise

I cannot praise this album enough. This album is absolutely terrifying! The many starts and stops creates this very h settling tension. Each start expands on the stopper idea previously. It’s like the music equivalent of walking through thick fog while passing out multiple times throughout trying to find a place to orientate yourself. There may or may not be something sinister in that fog, but you don’t want to stick around to find out. Bought the vinyl so I summon the fog demons through spe showhornwithteeth
